Vancouver Whitecaps FC U20
Vancouver Whitecaps are known for being one of only three Canadian clubs in the Major League Soccer. To develop their players, Vancouver Whitecaps created a football tour to Mexico.
During their training camp, the Canadians played several friendly matches against youth teams from Mexico.
They also undertook training sessions, benefitting from Mexico’s sunny climate. In their time off the pitch, the boys enjoyed some sightseeing around Mexico’s capital.
Football Tour Mexico – Toluca & Mexico City
As the base for their training camp, the U20 team of Vancouver Whitecaps chose the city of Toluca. Toluca is located one hour from Mexico City. It’s quite an affordable destination for a training camp, but doesn’t compromise on the quality of accommodation and training facilities.
The Whitecaps’ U20 squad played fixtures against Deportivo Toluca FC, Cruz Azul and Club América. This helped expose the boys to a different style of football, to support their development as football players.
Their training sessions took place on the official training ground of Deportivo Toluca FC. This club plays in the Primera División de México, the highest football league in the country.
This meant the Canadians could benefit from one of the best training facilities Mexico has to offer. Free time for sightseeing, so the team could experience the culture of Mexico, completed the trip.
