On February 21^st the U9’s and U11’s of Schoonhoven made their journey from The Netherlands to Village Hotel Warrington. After dropping off their luggage and checking-in there was some free time to relax and explore. In the evening the team had dinner out of the hotel. A great moment to look forward on the upcoming days.

Saturday morning started with breakfast and lunch packages for the road. After that the teams went to the Liverpool FC Academy. Both teams competed against the talents of Liverpool FC. A special moment for the players from the Netherlands to play against such a club from England.

When the matches were played, they went to the Anfield Stadium, the home base of Liverpool FC, for a stadium tour. During the tour, the players and staff got a look behind the scenes. From the player’s tunnel to the dressing rooms and from the dug out to the famous side ‘’The Kop’’. For many players, this was a dream come true.

After a nice day filled with a lot of football and experience, the team went back to the hotel for dinner together at the hotel.

On Sunday the team had to get up early once again. After breakfast and picking up the lunch packages the teams headed to the training complex of Leeds United FC. A full program was ready with matches against strong English opponents.

The U9’s of Schoonhoven competed against Blackburn Rovers U9 and Leeds United U9. De U11 played against Leeds United U11, Manchester City U11 and Blackburn Rovers U11. Great duels in which the players gave everything and showed what they are capable of. It was great to see how both teams were able to adapt to the English game and played their matches with pleasure.

After the final whistle, the opponents were said goodbye and the group left for Manchester Airport. Tired but satisfied, everyone boarded the plane, with a head full of new experiences and memories of a great football weekend.

This football trip is one to never forget. We are already looking forward to welcoming Schoonhoven Sports again in the future for a new international football experience!
