Atlanta United’s U15s are set to embark on an unforgettable journey to England as they prepare to compete in the prestigious Merseyside International Cup, organized by Orange Veins and Liverpool FC. Now in its third edition, this elite youth tournament brings together top academy teams from across Europe and North America—and for Atlanta United, it marks their second consecutive appearance.
Building on last year’s successful trip, which included games at the tournament and a memorable friendly against Manchester United’s U15s, this year’s experience promises to be even more special. On the pitch, the young “Five Stripes” will test themselves against elite opposition, including some of England’s top academies. The tournament will feature a strong lineup: Liverpool, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Hungary’s Ferencváros, and fellow MLS side Columbus Crew, alongside Atlanta United.
Adding further spice to the trip, Atlanta are also slated to play against Chelsea and Manchester City—two of the most formidable youth academies in Europe—making this a truly high-caliber footballing experience.
But the journey isn’t just about football. The team will enjoy a broader cultural adventure, including a sightseeing trip to London, where they’ll explore the historic and modern highlights of one of the world’s great cities. This cultural immersion offers the players a chance to bond, grow, and appreciate the world beyond the pitch.
A particularly inspiring moment will come when the squad sits down with Caleb Wiley, a product of Atlanta United’s own academy who has taken the leap across the Atlantic and now plies his trade with Watford FC. To round off their time in England, the players will attend a Premier League clash between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium.
