Canada U20 MNT goes Costa Rica
From 10 till 22nd of April 2022 the U20 National Team of Canada traveled with Orange Veins to San Jose, Costa Rica.
After two empty years without international matches it was for many players their first appearance for the Canadian National Team. It was a nice mixture of players active in Canada, Europe and even Brazil.
The group was staying at the Hilton hotel in San Jose, nearby the facilities of the FCFR. With some great weather conditions the group started their first session on the 11th of April. The conditions of the fields where amazing and the bird sounds on the background during the sessions created an exotic atmosphere. Some players went from -10 degrees Celsius to +30 degrees Celsius. So bye bye snow boats, hello flipflops.
On the 15th of April the first game between Costa Rica U20 vs Canada U20 took place. With a final score of 0 – 3, Canada definitely deserved this win. With good possession play, high pressure and physical power, Canada U20 was much better than Costa Rica U20.
The day after the match Canada U20 went with all their players and staff to the La Paz Waterfall Gardens. With his beautiful nature and wildlife, Costa Rica is truly one of the most amazing places on our planet. After a great sightseeing day, the group went back to the hotel to evaluate the game from the day before.
The second match of Costa Rica U20 vs Canada U20 was played on the 21st of April 2022. With a clear blue sky, motivated players on both sides Costa Rica U20 was eager for revanche…and that’s what happened. Costa Rica beated Canada with 1 – 0. The technical level of the game was very high. Both teams enjoyed both games and learned a lot.
