The opening day on 18 August consisted of the group-stage matches. The eight teams were divided into two groups, with the results determining the fixtures for the final day. From the first matches onwards, the tournament produced a high standard of football, with the teams competing closely for their place in the final stages.

The second day brought the decisive matches, with the final eventually being contested between ID2 and Aston Villa FC. After a closely fought encounter, Aston Villa secured a 1-0 victory to lift the Merseyside International Cup U15 trophy.
