The national team of Australia is affectionately called the Socceroo’s, a combination of soccer and kangaroo. Well-known players from the national squad are Mark Viduka, Bret Emerton and Tim Cahill.

Melbourne is the only city in Australia with two A League teams; Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City. Melbourne City is best known for being part of the City group, the group that also owns English Premier League club Manchester City.

This makes their youth academy an especially interesting one to visit. Their youth players not only benefit from high class facilities, but also from the football knowledge of the Premier League giant. Melbourne City’s youth academy is located on the campus of La Trobe University in Melbourne.
