The countdown to the 2026 edition of the Virgil’s Legacy Trophy has officially begun, and excitement is already building for what promises to be another unforgettable weekend of elite youth football in Tilburg. The international U13 tournament, founded by Virgil van Dijk, will return on September 12 and 13, 2026, bringing together some of the world’s most prestigious academies. 

Following a hugely successful inaugural edition, the tournament continues to grow in stature and international recognition. The 2026 line-up features a remarkable collection of top European clubs, combining returning powerhouses with exciting debutants. Participating teams include Liverpool FC, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, Juventus, Celtic, Southampton, Ajax, PSV, Feyenoord, FC Groningen and hosts Willem II. Joining the competition for the first time are FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Bayern München and Galatasaray. 

Hosted across Sportpark Prinsenhoeve and the iconic Koning Willem II Stadium, the tournament offers young talents the opportunity to compete at the very highest level while experiencing a professional football environment from start to finish. The event has rapidly become a unique platform where the stars of tomorrow can showcase their talent on an international stage.
